Acer palmatum ‘Frosted Purple’ is reticulated Japanese maple with outstanding color particularly in the spring. ‘Frosted Purple’ is similar to the Japanese maples in the “Ghost” series in that it has reticulated variegation and the unique, jagged edges to the leaves. ‘Frosted Purple’ comes out a very light purple color in the spring. This color is much brighter than that of ‘Purple Ghost’ or several other reticulated Japanese maples. This color dulls in the summer, but the reticulation typically holds. Fall color is a nice red.
