The leaves of 'Elegans' emerge in spring a soft green with gold and pink hues and a slight pubescence. In summer leaves change to a pleasant medium green before putting on a real show in fall that ranges between solid yellow or yellow with orange and red. The very graceful habit of this small tree is decidedly upright when young but becomes much rounder and wide with age.  'Elegans' does best in partial shade especially in hotter climates.
