Acer palmatum ‘Shigarami’ is a green Japanese maple with star shaped leaves. These leaves emerge green with red to purple tips, much like ‘Tsuma gaki’. Like most red fingernail varieties, the red tips disappear by summertime. ‘Shigarami’ develops into a nice, elegant tree with attractive green leaves that turn a golden yellow to orange in the fall.
