Spring is a wonderful time for this beautiful maple as chartreuse leaves are adorned with red highlights at the tips. 'Satsuki beni' means red in May but in hotter climates the red tips fade and the leaves darken to green by the end of April. Still this plant deserves a spot in the garden. A strong grower, older plants can attain 25 feet or more. Fall color is red and fantastic most years.
