Acer palmatum ‘Rainbow’

Acer palmatum ‘Rainbow’ has a unique color pallet. ‘Rainbow’ has a base leaf color of dark purple bordering on black. The foliage then looks like someone came and threw a can of bright pink paint all over the tree. The variegation of this tree truly is stunning when it is in peak color as the bright pinks on top of the dark background are unmatched. This rarely happens for us though. The ‘Rainbow’ trees that we have grown have shown very little variegation. We still like the tree as the base leaf color is nice, and it is a strong grower. We will try to have better luck with this variegated tree in the future.
