The Japanese name 'O kagami' means large mirror. A great name to describe these large dark red leaves that emerge in spring and become more interesting throughout the year. As summer approaches the veining in the leaf becomes more pronounced. 'O kagami' forms a graceful small round topped tree and tolerates dun very well in all but the hottest areas of its range. Fall color is more red in sun but can be orange or even yellow when grown in shade.
