Acer palmatum ‘Kasag D’ is probably synonymous with ‘Purple Ghost’. ‘Kasag D’ has foliage that appears deep purple in early spring with adequate sun, in more shady locations foliage appears more lavender but regardless of location what makes this leaf special is the prominent black veins. In summer the color turns to green with purple undertones. 'Kasag D' tolerates full sun in some areas but requires afternoon shade in hotter climates. Fall color varies from deep red to reddish orange.
