A wonderfully unique maple, in spring 'Kagiri nishiki' has cream and pink variegation on blue-green sickle shaped leaves. In hot climates the pink fades in summer leaving a nice cream and green leaf. Like butterfly the branching is dense and may become congested so pruning to remove inner branching is recommended. This plant develops into a small vase shaped tree that over time can reach 15 feet.
