Acer palmatum ‘Cascade Gold’

Acer palmatum ‘Cascade Gold’ is a weeping Japanese maple with broad leaves. These features are very similar to the ever popular Acer palmatum ‘Ryu sei’. ‘Cascade Gold’ has golden-yellow leaves in the spring with red edges. The leaves turn to a light green in the summer before putting on a show in the fall with orange to red fall colors. The growth habit of ‘Cascade Gold’ is extremely pendulous as it basically grows straight down. ‘Cascade Gold’ has broad leaves which is unusual for a weeping variety of Japanese maple. ‘Cascade Gold’ was cultivated as a cross between ‘Ryu sei’ and ‘Orange Dream’. It has the leaf colors of ‘Orange Dream’ and growth habit of ‘Ryu sei’.
