Acer japonicum ‘Itaya’

This cultivar introduced by the late great plantsman Henry Hohman of Kingsville Nursery in Kingsville Maryland has large rounded leaves typical of other japonicums. This cultivar should be planted in partial shade especially in hot climates as it tends to burn in full sun. This vigorous grower forms a nice round topped tree. Older specimens can reach 20 to 25 feet. Fall color is red, and orange.
